TSIMIKAS IMPRESSES IN FA CUP WIN

Greece national team left-back KostantinosTsimikas got a rare chance to impress at left-back in the FA Cup quarterfinal win for his Liverpool side over English Championship outfit Nottingham Forest and he took the chance with both hands. The Greece international came in for Scottish international Andy Robertson at left-back and he went on to provide the assist for the only goal of the game as Liverpool sealed their place in the last four of the FA Cup via a 1-0 away win over Nottingham Forest.

Liverpool manager JurgenKlopp made the decision to rest first-choice left-back Robertson with Greece international Tsimikas coming into the starting XI in his place for the trip to Nottingham Forest with a semifinal spot in the FA Cup up for grabs.

Nottingham Forest have been the biggest giantkillersin the FA Cup this season after they were responsible for the exit of North London club Arsenal in the third round via a 1-0 home win and defending champions Leicester City in the fourth round via a 4-1 home win. In the fifth round, they were drawn against fellow Championship team Huddersfield Town at home in a game that ended 2-1 in their favour thus booking their place in the quarterfinals also known as the sixth round.

Liverpool were favourites to secure a place in the FA Cup semifinals ahead of Nottingham Forest and they didn’t fend them off until in-form Liverpool attacker Diogo Jota scored the winning goal on 78 minutes off the assist from the aforementioned Tsimikas. Jota managed to stay onside before finding the back of the net to win the game for his team. The Reds will now face Premier League title rivals Manchester City in the final four of the FA Cup after beating Nottingham Forest 1-0 away from home in their last eight clash.
