Robertson was ruled out of the Premier League opener at newly promoted team Norwich City for the Reds due to an ankle injury picked up during a recent friendly game against Spanish La Liga team Athletic Bilbao. Greece national team player Tsimikas took his place in the Liverpool starting XI for the Norwich City match.

Tsimikas performed well in the absence of Robertson though he had some shaky moments especially in defence. The Greece international was able to help Liverpool keep a clean sheet in a 3-0 win over their hosts.

Diogo Jota is in his second season at Liverpool following his big money move from fellow English top flight side Wolverhampton Wanderers and he was responsible for the first goal of the Premier League encounter between home team Norwich City and Liverpool. His goal was the difference between the two teams at the break.

Brazilian international Roberto Firmino had an extended break this summer after his participation in the Copa America tournament with Brazil and he started the game against Norwich City on the bench mainly due to that as he was lagging behind in preseason football in comparison to the other forwards. Firmino came off the bench to double the lead for the Reds.

Egyptian international Mohamed Salah was a thorn in the flesh of the Norwich City defenders as he provided the two assists for the goals before adding a third goal to cap a fine performance.

Salah and Liverpool would be hoping to make it two wins from two games when they host Burnley at Anfield on Saturday.
